A lot happens each day at the Church Council, too much to appear in The Source or the Action Alert. Hence, this Weblog. So, here's some of the craziness, some of the fun, some of the frustration, and some of humor, too. This coming week the Church Council will help coordinate sanctuary homes for hurricane survivors. We’ll work in conjunction with the State of Washington, King County, and the Red Cross to match churches and individuals with families needing shelter from Hurricane Katrina in the Gulf States. Watch this blog and the Church Council website for more details.

A 500-mile walk on the Camino de Santiago is a time consuming process that takes a person away from home and family on a spiritual trek for a month or longer. A much cheaper and easier way is to become a Virtual Pilgrim! That's what we're doing at First United Methodist Church of Seattle. Each week our Community Group of Cyber Pilgrims totals up the miles we've walked or run from our homes in the Greater Seattle area and posts those on a map showing our progress toward Santiago de Compostela, the historic pilgrimage site. When it's all done our virtual pilgrims receive our compostelas and share a paella dinner in celebration of fellowship, pilgrimage, St. James, and Spain. Follow our adventures along the Way!
More than 85 years ago, representatives from 62 congregations gathered in downtown Seattle to form an organization that eventually became known as the Church Council of Greater Seattle.
Over the years the Council has embraced all major Christian denominations and many interfaith partners.
It has also developed a distinctly activist character in keeping with the Pacific Northwest's pioneering spirit and the Christian call for compassion.
Today, the Church Council represents more than 400 churches and 15 denominations as well as thousands of individuals united by the belief that we can work together to promote justice and increase compassion in our community.

I assume you will be "helping" all these Hurricane victims by putting them in Tents?
Oh, right, never mind, we know that they will get special treatment since you are not using them to further your abuse of the homeless.
